Philip Brewer's Writing Progress

Well, the rewrite of "An Education of Scars" is done. I've got the draft out to a couple of people who have read it before (and I'll also show a copy to one friend at work who particularly expressed an interest). But I don't expect it to change much more. I'll get it off to the editor in just a few days.

On the one hand, I think it's a much stronger story now than it was. But, on the other, I'm not confident that it's as much better as it needs to be to sell. Sigh. We'll, it's not going to get any better any time soon: This is the best I can do. So, off it goes.

I haven't really been thinking about what to write next. Usually, I get ideas bubbling up when a story is nearly done, but not so far this time. I really ought to write a love story next. James Patrick Kelly suggested that a love story was the next thing I should write, and the original inspiration for Scars was as one, though it quickly became no such thing. I'll set my mind that way and see what I come up with.
