Jackie and I went to Barnes & Noble for the first time since the start of the pandemic. I bought a copy of each of the science fiction and fantasy magazines they carry, with an eye toward re-subscribing to any that seem good.

Photo of a loaf of fresh-baked sourdough bread.

Today’s sourdough rose especially well, and now I’m really looking forward to quality control. (Update: Delicious!)

Our main meal today is coho salmon with a soy-honey-ginger-mustard glaze, served with a blend of wild and brown rice.

It was @jackieLbrewer’s turn to bake bread today. (We are both pretty jealous of our turns. Fortunately, we both bake excellent sourdough bread.)

Here’s today’s loaf.

Very yummy, if I do say so myself.

Happy Valentine’s Day to my sweetie, @jackieLbrewer!

I’m not sure who ought to clear the sidewalk on Route 45 near Curtis, but somebody should. I’m fit enough to clamber over three-foot snow walls blocking crosswalks, but hundreds of my neighbors are not. @Applebees @cvspharmacy @SchnuckMarkets

I’m not sure who ought to clear the sidewalk on Curtis Road next to the U of I Solar Farm, but somebody should. I’m fit enough to trudge through the 12-inch snow, but hundreds of my neighbors are not. @UofIllinois

The pale green lichen and the dark green moss are what caught my eye, and then I thought, “Oh, this might be worthy of a #thicktrunktuesday post!”

I write science fiction and fantasy stories.

I speak Esperanto, and use it to communicate internationally. Esperantistoj, legu mian esperantan hejmpaĝon.

For a while I taught Taiji. My current hobby is HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts, aka sword fighting).

For eleven years I was a senior writer at Wise Bread, writing about personal finance and frugality.

Before that I spent a quarter-century as a software engineer.
